What can be learnt from the New Jersey Housewives?

We have learnt so far this season from the NJ Housewives that family is important. We learn that if someone shares a different view point from our family we should automatically black list them and go as far as to attack them. There is no room for acceptance of differences in no shape or form. If you had problems in your past, you cannot be a better person and you will always where, like in the Scarlet Letter, an A on your chest. We learnt to fight it out and not to talk it out. We learnt that friends are very temporary and the very minute you slip-up, your friends are gone. Friends do not keep secrets and your closest friend is you biggest enemy. A lot of other lessons to be learnt in this show. Can you tell me some other lessons you learnt? And what can we talk away from this show as positive?

Italian Clan

On the final episode of the Real Housewives of New Jersey, aired Aug 23 2010, we see where Caroline and Danielle had a showdown. Danielle was alerted by text message to meet Caroline at a restaurant. As per usual Danielle had to have her bodyguard as she fears her life. She has been in situations before with the other housewives as they try to break her down. Caroline and Danielle sat to discuss the issues they were having. Caroline allowed Danielle to speak and then Caroline began. Caroline told Danielle that she was garbage, she then continued to brag about how clannish her family was. Caroline stated stat when she stands she does not stand alone. She stands with Jacqueline, Teresa and the kids. Danielle said, that she can only stand with her two daughters. This really showed who was stronger. Danielle was stronger, because with all the clansmen that Caroline have, why are they still discussing the incident between Ashley and Danielle? Danielle was handed the golden platter because of how poorly Ashley acted that night. My question is, do we really stand stronger in numbers?

Women and Hair - Real Housewives DC

In the episode of the Real Housewives of DC aired Aug 19 2010, we see that the closest friends to the housewives are male Hair-Stylists. Micheale Salahi threw a party for her "friend" and Hair-Stylist, Paul. While Paul was preparing for his party, he had a Hair-Stylist for himself too. Mary threw a party for her friends Jason and Ted as they were breaking grounds into the DC market. All the housewives were pampered and styled before the party. What's up with women and hair? Give me your thoughts.

Immigration and Generation - New Jersey Housewives take trip to Italy

In the Real Housewives of New Jersey, we see where all the housewives with the exception of Danielle, all went to Italy for a vacation. The Manzo's took their parents, so too did Jacqueline. Teresa speaks Italian along with her husband who was born in Italy but moved to the US at age 1. Teresa and her husband are the closest to their roots in Italy compared to the other housewives. It was interesting to see how happy she was to take he friends there. Her family seemed loving also was he husband's family. They all greeted each other with kisses to the point where for me it was overwhelming. I liked it though. In one scene, Caroline talked about how weird it was for her to see Teresa and her husband being so "Italian" for lack of a better word. She continued to make the point that her grandparents left Italy to become Americans. It gave the impression that in the US she is all Italian American, and in Italy, she is all American. One may begin to wonder if she was could not appreciate her roots. My question is, as the US continue to be the number one destination of new immigrants, how will the off spring of those immigrants, whether 1st or 3rd generation refer to themselves as - Americans or American? Give me your thoughts!!

Ethnic Relations

In the second episode of the Real Housewives of DC, we begin to see how racial the nations capital is. We had the opportunity to see Stacie, who is black and seemingly successful, was hosting a party at her aunts house. She invited the other housewives who are all white. They all seemed to gel nicely except for the snobby Brit. I thought of all person that she would have shown some class, but clearly, she seemed to have been raised by animals. She did not have the common courtesy to use pokerface, instead she just puts it all out there and leaves a bad impression. The other housewives gathered and spoke about it. They mentioned that it is probably because the Brit is not familiar with being in an environment where it is majority black. I have not tolerance for such stupidity. Its like saying, I cant act properly around Americans because I am not used to being around majority Americans. Its pathetic, you simply need to show respect no matter what situation you are in. There are basic things you should know to do and not to do around people, especially those you think you are not familiar with. Things like ask questions rather than assuming. My question is, when should the tolerance for poor racial relations/behavior be condoned or when should we be sympathetic? In 2010 I have no sympathy for it whatsoever.

Pop Culture and Politics - Real Housewives DC

In the recent debut of the Real Housewives of DC, we are nothing shy of how the blur the lines are between popular culture and politics. We remember earlier in the year when President Obama was hosting a State dinner for the Indian Prime-minister when the Salahis crashed the dinner having the FBI and CIA all over them. It had appeared that these individuals were not officially invited and as such posed great risks to the President. How could they have got in? They must have been connected in some way or another with either the party planner or the guards themselves. Whomever it is that failed to keep them out, we were shock to see that these were the same people who were filming for this really - Real Housewives of DC. There devious behavior was rewarded with great buzz and fame. Throughout the show all we hear is how connected they all are to someone in political power. As one of the housewives mentioned that connection to political power is the currency spent in DC. What are your thoughts on the blurring lines between politics and pop culture?

Bethany Getting Married?

While "Bethany Getting Married?" is not in the Real Housewives series, Bethany is a member of the Real Housewives of New York. Each time I watch her I feel like I experience the same things she experiences. While I have not been engaged 3 times like her, I have been in similar situations and just came to the resolve that I may be single for the rest of my life and that would be fine. Her show allowed us to see how she met her husband - in a club - . I thought that was a no-no. But I was happy for her anyway. What do you think about meeting your partner in a club? Do you think its a good idea?

Relationships

In the Real Housewives of New Jersey relationships are very frail and generally snap in a second. Danielle loses friends like there is no tomorrow. I am not sure who to blame. Is it her or the friends. Based on the show aired Aug 2 2010, Kim D joins the list of individuals that have stopped being friends with her. Danielle got pissed with Kim D because a private conversation about Danielle wanting to search for her biological mother was leaked to Teresa and others. Danielle has a right to be pissed, but how should she handle it. have you been in a similar situation where a "friend" has leaked personal information about you? How did you handle it?

How is the "Real Housewives" series connected to wall street?

I believe that reality shows are definitely linked to wall street. Before realty shows, all the things we see, from the cars driven to the clothes the actors wore were all staged. As a result we as Americans never thought deeply into the fact that we could acquire the things used on these shows mostly because we knew it was staged and the people were actors. Now Realty shows come and we are looking at the actual lives of these individuals, we refrain from calling them actors because we assume that what we see is real. Many of us know that at least some things are staged. The staging part uses product placements and even making an aired show around a particular product. This makes the product more accessible to the audience. We then go out and buy these products because we think, if Jill or Bethany can wear or drive this type of car, then I should do it too, especially if they look good doing it. Let me know your thoughts on this topic.

Danielle is filing a Law Suit

Where do they stop? For some reason I am liking Daniel. I see the others as truly trying to break her down. I think she will, like the Phoenix, rise. Let me know your thoughts.
